Over the years we’ve heard and seen plenty. Some things you hear over and over. So, here we are, frequently asked questions. We’ve put this together to help answer as many of your questions as possible, even some you didn’t even think of yet.
I’ve never done this before.
Fine by us, most of our clients come to us with no experience at all. We can’t say all our clients are “new” because most of them come back again and again. They encourage others too. We believe a shoot needs to be fun. If you feel great and are having a fun experience it will show in your photos.
I’m plus sized, can you work with me?
Absolutely yes. We’ve photographed many women who have said the exact same thing. We have a variety of wardrobe and can work with you to make it happen and be just the thing to help show you everyone is beautiful in their own way.
Is Makeup and Hair included?
All of our pricing and packages will list what is included. 95% of our sessions includes full makeup and hair by Nicole Zedonek of Making Faces Professional. The most notable exception is our $95 build your shoot option. Here you can decide what services you need and which you don’t. Some clients may be proficient with hair themselves or prefer to do their own makeup, with our build your shoot special you choose what you need.
How long will my session be?
Even our most basic shoots will require 2 hours with us in the studio. When you schedule your session your start time will have you begin your makeup and hair process and discuss wardrobe and “look”. When that’s done, typically an hour later it will be time to shoot!!! This session will run at least 45 minutes during themed sessions where we have multiple appointments throughout the day. One on one sessions can have an hour to an hour and a half of shooting time with some lasting even longer. We’ll discuss that ahead of time with you. If you have to be done by a certain time, let us know and we’ll map out your session to ensure you meet your obligations.
Do you have wardrobe?
We do! And we’re told we have a great selection. We actually have a good mix of genuine vintage as well as modern reproductions. Our sizes available do tend to be grouped to quite small and then a good deal of plus sized. The small items tend to be the genuine vintage items we have… some of which we have loaned our before and ended up being worn by gals who went on to win pinup contests and the plus sized items being newer. We ask each model bring at least one outfit and shoes she loves so there is a base to start from and you’re assured you have at least one look you’ll be thrilled with.
When will I get my photos?
You LEAVE WITH THEM! Michael shoots to 2 data cards during your session. This means there is a safety set of the files as well. You get an SD card of all the images to go home with you! You can see your images as soon as you get them on your computer!
How long does it take to get my edits back?
Depending on workload most individual shoots can expect edits back within 48 hours. Things that affect this would be timing of our shoot relevant to larger sessions we may have just completed. If time is critical (birthday-anniversary gifts) we will do our best to accommodate your requests. Bottom line is you will not wait months like we’ve heard happens with some other studios.
Do I have to buy prints or anything else to shoot with you?
Not all all. Our shoot price is for your shoot and MUAH (makeup and hair) all your photos and edits as listed with each shoot package (generally 6 edits). We don’t require you to buy prints at inflated prices. As a matter of fact your edits gallery is linked directly to MPIX a leading online print service which offers exceptional quality, super competitive pricing and quick delivery AND it’s at their prices. There is NO MARKUP added. You pay exactly what you would if you uploaded them yourself except with our gallery you simply have to decide what you want and order!
What Can I do with the photos?
Anything you want to! They are yours! You can print them, crop them and share immediately, many many of our clients do! You can submit them to magazines and websites, I provide you a full release.
What is your cancellation policy?
All deposits are non-refundable. If you need to cancel your session we will gladly apply your deposit to any other available session within 90 days of your original shoot date. If you are a no-show for your session you do forfeit your deposit. Shoots on location where we only have one chance to schedule are more difficult to loose the opportunity to schedule someone which is why we ask for larger deposits for this type of session.
Where are you located?
Our studio is located in downtown Pottsville PA at 104 North Centre Street, 2nd Floor. On the map it’s actually located within a 5 hour radius of about half the US population! WE’RE CLOSE TO MOST OF YOU! Additionally we are a 5 minute walk from a bus terminal with service to many major US cities including direct routes from New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC.
How far are you from X?
The studio ends up being about:
- 3 hours from New York City and Washington DC
- 2.5 Hours from Philadelphia and Baltimore
- 1-1.5 hours from Harrisburg, Allentown, Reading Scranton/Wilkes-Barre
